Super Bowl posts worst viewer ratings since 2007

The Super Bowl is the biggest television event of the year. This year’s big game was the lowest watched Super Bowl since 2007. That game attracted 93.1 million viewers. Super Bowl LV attracted 96.4 million viewers.

Though overall viewership was down. 5.7 million viewers per minute via streaming through CBS All Access. The CBS app had issues during the game, which could have had a negative impact on the ratings.

Audience numbers dropped as the lopsided score increased, and for the most part continued to decline through the rest of the game.

This marks the second time in three years the game failed to eclipse 100 million TV viewers. The 2015 game between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks remains the most-watched game with roughly 114 million viewers.Click here to read the source article

  1. I think the views were so low because not may people were interested in the Super Bowl this year because of covid. This low viewership effects advertisers because they didn’t get as many people to watch their ad as they planned so they wasted some money that they could have saved.

  2. I think that the viewership of this years Super bowl was down because a lot of people were not allowed to go to experience as this is the first year that the stadium was not filled during the super bowl because of that less people thought it would be empty and lifeless so they didn’t watch at all. people were also not happy about the weekend being chosen for the half time show so that appeal to the super bowl was taken away because there is always people that watch it just for the commercial and half time show.

  3. I think that the viewership was low this year for the Super Bowl because there was less space in the stadium due to COVID and people weren’t willing to risk getting COVID to watch a football game. There are also those people that only watch the game to watch who sings in the half time show and this year we weren’t able to get that same experience as the previous years did. This effects the advertisers because lower views means less money gained due to people not seeing the advertising.
