Hasbro to Lay Off 1,000 Staffers, 15 Percent of Workforce, Amid Cost-Savings Push | The Hollywood Reporter

In the coming weeks, the toy and entertainment giant Hasbro will cut its workforce by 15 percent, or 1,000 employees, in order to streamline its operations and cost-saving efforts. The decision was announced by Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks as part of the company’s “Blueprint 2.0” strategy, which will focus on fewer, bigger brands; gaming; digital; and direct-to-consumer and licensing businesses.

The restructuring process will be accompanied by the sale of Hasbro’s TV and film division Entertainment One, which Cocks believes will help the company “substantially reduce costs and increase our growth rates and profitability.” Cocks noted that the fourth quarter in particular was “a challenging moment for Hasbro,” and that the company is now focused on taking steps to ensure its future success.

In order to reach its desired outcomes, Hasbro will be placing a particular emphasis on certain franchises, such as Transformers, Peppa Pig, and Dungeons & Dragons, as well as entertainment. Hasbro has already experienced success in these areas and is now looking to build on that momentum.

  1. I think that this lay off and the selling of the film division will leave Hasbro with a good amount of cash for them to work on making better products or making the company more cost effective. The extra money they’ll have can be put towards many things Hasbro may want to improve which in the end would substantially improve revenue for the company.

  2. the company wanted something better for the company. Today’s technology helps a lot about anything or business. Although the rate of people will decrease, several people will lose their jobs but the company will not have to be much with the technology it will have
