Tesla says it’s focused on improving affordability. What it means for future and current owners. | USA Today

There is no denying that Tesla’s electric vehicles (EVs) are on the cutting edge of innovation. But it is also true that their prices have been a barrier to entry for many would-be buyers. That’s why Tesla’s decision to slash prices earlier this month, and this week to continue improving the affordability of its EVs, is such welcome news.

The price cuts, which have allowed some of its cars to qualify for a federal electric vehicle tax credit, have already helped to drive demand. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said during a Wednesday earnings call that “price really matters” and that “there’s a vast number of people that want to buy a Tesla car but can’t afford it.” He added that the price changes are making a difference for the average consumer.

Tesla’s commitment to affordability could have a profound effect on the EV market. Not only could it help to make Tesla cars more accessible to more people, but it could also put pressure on other EV manufacturers to make their own vehicles more affordable. This could open up a whole new world for electric vehicle ownership.

The company has also said that it is looking towards an ambitious goal of becoming a multi-million vehicle producer, indicating that it intends to make EVs even more affordable in the future.

For now, Tesla’s commitment to affordability shows that the company is serious about making EVs the car of the future. And that can only mean good news for drivers…….Click here to read the source article[read more]

  1. i think tesla should reduce their prices for families to afford them instead of paying for gas once or twice a week. This would save thousands of dollars, but it may raise your electric bill.

  2. i think more costumers that bought it before the decrease in price are very upset because they spent that much amount on it.

  3. This is bad for all the current Tesla owners because now since they lowered the price the resell value they had on the their Tesla car is now decreased. But now Tesla sells will increase because more people can afford to purchase the car.

  4. Lowering the price for current Tesla owners would just be bad as now the vehicles are worth even less than they were. But for a buyer in the used Tesla market, this price drop would cause the price of used Tesla to drop too which would give people looking for one but didn’t have enough money a chance to get one.

  5. I think people will feel some type of way because the prices were lowered, and previous tesla owners will feel a type of way because their car lost value twice once when they left the lot and when they decided to lower the prices.

  6. it doesnt, the price drop for these electric cars only benefits new buyers, anyone who already owned a tesla has lost additional value due to the price cut of new cars. tesla has surly upset their customer base but the new affordability might attract enough of a new customer base for tesla to remain unaffected.

  7. Lowering the price for Tesla cars will allow more people to afford them, the lower prices will make it so that Used Tesla market prices also drop because since a new Tesla is cheaper now, some people might pay a little more to get a brand-new car, so in order for people to still buy the used car they will have to drop even more.

  8. Lowering the price for current Tesla owners would just be bad as now the vehicles are worth even less than they were. But for a buyer in the used Tesla market, this price drop would cause the price of used Tesla to drop too which would give people looking for one but didn’t have enough money a chance to get one.

  9. lowering the price is good for current Tesla owners and the value of the used Tesla market because more people are looking for affordable cars and lowering the price would get them more sales

  10. I believe the reduction of tesla prices will make them more popular and especially since they’re efficient and then not to mention more affordable now they sales will skyrocket. current tesla owners will be able to qualify for a federal electric vehicle tax credit.

  11. Lowering the price of Tesla vehicles could benefit current owners by increasing demand for used Tesla vehicles, which would in turn increase their resale value. Additionally, lower prices for new Tesla vehicles could also make Tesla ownership more accessible to a wider range of consumers, potentially increasing demand for all Tesla vehicles and further boosting resale values for current owners

  12. How is lowering the price good for current Tesla owners and the value of the used Tesla market?
Lowering the price for current Tesla owners would just be bad as now the vehicles are worth even less than they were. I would say that for a buyer in the used Tesla market, this price drop would cause the price of used Tesla to drop too which would give people looking for one but didn’t have enough money a chance to get one.So for some people they will benefit and some will flop.
