In a rather interesting turn of events, Twitter says that it isn’t worried about Apple’s new changes to user privacy and tracking on iOS 14, and instead says that it could use this opportunity to compete with others!
The announcement comes as other companies like Facebook are rushing to attack the move by Apple, and show how bad it could be to small business and their business model.
Twitter has also stated that they will not rush the process of asking for a users IDFA, which is the unique device ID tied to every iPhone and iPad which can be used to track them across various mediums. Twitter CFO Ned Segal had this to say about it: “We don’t want to be in a rush around IDFA. You only have one chance to ask somebody if you can have access to their device ID to show them more relevant ads. You want to ask in a really thoughtful way, and you want to take time to learn from the industry and the broader ecosystem before you ask a question like that.”
As the new policies come into place, Twitter will sit back and learn from the industry, and when it is ready, will ask for permission from users in a thoughtful manner.

Should more companies take this approach? How could studying industries help you market a service or a product?
I would say companies that can do this should take the approach because some companies really don’t know how to compete with others. Studying industries can help you market a service or product by seeing what the companies consumers expect, need, and get from that company and seeing how you as a company can do it better.
