The ratings could be low because the advertisements for the olympic were lower and with the summer olympics last year it brought more attention .The super bowl is also taking away a lot of the attention from the olympics as well .
People aren’t as interested as they once were in the Olympics, with how massive and oversaturated the market is for sports events like the Olympics, and the Superbowl people have probably gotten tired of seeing so many sports channels, or their too busy with life to watch them (seeing how hectic the past few years have been). TV ratings represent how many people are viewing your content, and depending on the amount it’s how much the network is paid, so with the ratings so low for them it’s not looking very great for them. Advertisers play their ads on channels they expect to do great, with something as big as the Olympics they would go all in, and I doubt they can pull their ads now.
The dip isn’t surprising given that Olympic viewing in general has been declining — but it’s still a big drop even when that trend is taken into consideration. The overall audience delivery of 16 million people is down 43 percent, which is a really outstanding amount when contrasted to anything else on linear TV that isn’t the NFL.
Ratings are down because people aren’t really interested in the Olympics anymore. TV ratings represent how many people are watching, and it determines how much networks and sponsors get paid.
Tv are so low because the U.S. is not as good in the winter Olympics so Americans dont watch it as much. Also there are other sports going on like college basketball and playoffs for the NFL. Low ratings are bad for advertisers because less people are watching there ads while they are paying the same price for the ads.
Why are TV ratings so low? What do TV ratings represent and why are they important? How do these low ratings affect advertisers?
Individuals aren’t generally so intrigued as they used to be in the Olympics, with how busy the market is for events like the Olympics, and the Super Bowl. The public have presumably become weary of seeing such countless games channels, or they’re doing something else with life to watch them. Television ratings address the number of individuals that are seeing your show, and relying upon the sum it’s how much the organization is paid, so with the appraisals so low for them it’s not looking good for them. Advertisers pay their promotions on channels in hope to expand their businesses, with something as large as the Olympics they would want to be seen by the usually large audience it brings but guessing that the views were so low this year, they probably lost money.
