Target Workers Are Being Fired For Buying Limited-Edition Stanley Cups | Delish
Stanley mania is once again making headlines, but this time it’s not about customers eagerly grabbing the coveted tumblers from store shelves. Instead, it’s the workers at Target who are finding themselves in hot water for buying these limited-edition cups. Stories have emerged on a Target subreddit where people claim they’ve been fired or witnessed others losing their jobs over purchasing Stanley tumblers.
One Reddit user shared an alarming experience where they discussed unfilled shifts with a coworker, only to discover that several colleagues had been fired. It turns out, these coworkers had been terminated for buying Starbucks x Stanley tumblers, hiding them, and then making the purchase. The post raised a thought-provoking question: “Is a cup really worth your job?”
Comments on the Reddit thread revealed that some Stanley tumblers never even made it to the store floor. In one case, a restock of the cosmic pink Stanley’s disappeared instantly, with none available for customers. Target workers were left puzzled, and investigations were launched to identify the purchasers. It all seems rather absurd over a cup.

Due to the workers having access before customers & purchasing them is unfair . it can lead customers to filing bad reports due to employees basically having a “cheat code” and access before everyone else
If I was a worker, I would buy them too, when they sell out I would sell them for more.
The controversy surrounding Target employees and the Stanley Tumblers connects with broader issues in business and marketing by showing the way that employees can break the dynamic of themselves, customers, and merchandise. Employees that buy the products before they reach the store shelves shows a problem in the way that the marketing is done with a business, the reason for this is that the business cannot handle the surge of popularity that the marketing has created. When this happens, the customers cannot buy a product because the customer broke the dynamics of the system, the impact of this in large scales is that employees could not want to use the store if the problems continue to occur.
Workers could hold the cups that they want to purchase in the back of the store so when they get off of work they could go get the cup and buy it.
While I do believe that this situation is very childish, People should not loose their job at the expense of a material object, but I do admit the employees could abuse their power and hold the product that is so trendy and is making a crazy amount of revenue for Target.
