This week, Diamond scored a significant win by securing new broadcasting deals with the NBA and NHL, enabling it to air games for nine NHL teams and 13 NBA clubs through the 2024-25 season. However, just days later, Amazon pulled out of a $115 million investment deal that was set to be a lifeline for Diamond. But since then, Diamond has lost broadcasting rights for some key teams, including the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks in the NBA, and the Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers in the NHL. Amazon’s decision to retract its investment comes as it focuses on its own major financial commitments, including a $1.93 billion deal to broadcast NBA games nationally on Prime Video starting in 2025 and a new package of NHL games in Canada.
