If you’ve ever wondered if Costco has your favorite product in stock and dreaded the thought of driving over, only to be disappointed, your shopping game might be changing. Costco has quietly dropped a new feature on its app that lets users search for items available in their local store! That’s right—no more calling in or making trips to find out your go-to snack is out of stock.
This feature, still in Beta testing, can be found by tapping on the “warehouse” icon between “account” and “cart” on the mobile app. Once you select your local store, you’ll not only see the store hours and gas prices but can also search for products by name or description to see if they’re available. Some users have been thrilled by this game-changing feature, like one person on X (formerly Twitter) who joked about pigs flying after discovering the local inventory search.
But not everyone’s jumping for joy. Another user playfully complained that now they can confirm that their favorite products are still out of stock without wasting a trip.
This new tech upgrade arrives at the same time as a membership fee hike, Costco’s first in seven years. If you’re one of the 52 million members affected, you might notice a $5 to $10 increase depending on your membership level. “Gold star” and business memberships went from $60 to $65, while executive memberships jumped from $120 to $130.
