Google will be less innovative due to the loss of several of hard-working employees, but also the friends of hard-working employees. Adapting to the changing market dynamics will be more challenging due to a lack of expertise and experience.
It might shift googles overall image and dissuade people with bright and innovative ideas from joking Google as well. Overall not a good move to layoff the creative minds of past employees and discourage new people from joining in fear of being laid off.
