Navigating New Challenges: Today’s Dough Adapts Amid Founder’s Health Struggles
Hey Doughie fans,
Big thanks for all the love and support you’ve shown Today’s Dough! It’s been a bumpy ride these past couple of years. Our fearless leader, Evan Statman, has been powering through a tough spell with a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). With the students who helped him having moved on, Evan’s been running the show solo. Teaching his business classes while juggling Today’s Dough has taken its toll, especially as his TBI symptoms have intensified.
Evan took this summer to focus on his health, but, tough as it is to share, his condition has worsened. This has inevitably impacted the Dough, Evan’s brainchild, and he’s pretty bummed about it. He’s cooking up some fresh ideas though! Imagine this: Evan’s Accounting and Marketing students driving the content with upcoming weekly podcasts, while Evan and his college son, Jacob and former student Jack chipping in with a couple of posts each week. It’s a shift from the usual, but hey, change can be good, right?
What makes Today’s Dough even more special is that it’s entirely fueled by passion. Today’s Dough never has asked for a dime, doesn’t make a dime, and no one gets paid because we’re all volunteers. Evan covers all the expenses—whether it’s hosting the site, covering the monthly email services, asking his friend (Ted and his wife) to do upgrades and site design changes or the countless hours of dedication—all while still teaching our high school students. It’s a true labor of love, driven by Evan’s unwavering commitment to educating the next generation about business, finance, and marketing.
Evan’s heart and passion is with Today’s Dough and all it offers to our next generation, but the TBI challenge is real and growing tougher by the day. It’s frustrating for him, and we’re all rooting for his health. While hoping that his current students will truly step-up to the challenge.
We hope you’ll stick with us through these changes. Your classroom and curiosity for business, finance, and marketing news mean the world to us and to Evan more than you can ever imagine. Let’s keep the Dough rising together!
Warm regards,
The Today’s Dough Team
