You can officially no longer share your Disney+ account without paying extra | 9TO5Mac
Disney+ has officially kicked off its password-sharing crackdown in the United States and beyond, following in the footsteps of Netflix. The streaming giant is rolling out a new paid sharing program, making it clear that the days of casually sharing your Disney+ account with friends or family outside of your household are over—unless you’re willing to pay extra. In the U.S., the cost to add someone outside your household as an “Extra Member” is $6.99 a month for a Basic subscription, or $9.99 for Premium. That extra member is limited to one person, so it’s not a free-for-all, and if you’ve got the Disney Bundle or pay through a third-party, you’re out of luck; no sharing allowed.

Disney will shoot a one-time passcode to your email for you to log in from wherever you are. And if you’ve moved recently, updating your household location is just a click away with the same passcode process.
For anyone thinking, “Well, I’ll just add my friend’s profile to my account later,” Disney’s got a system for that too. You can transfer profiles to new or Extra Member accounts, which keeps all those personalized settings, watch history, and recommendations intact. So while Disney is tightening its grip on who gets access to your subscription, they’ve at least made the transition relatively painless for legitimate users.
This new move comes after Netflix’s successful crackdown on account sharing, which has become a trend in the streaming world. Disney, like Netflix, plans to monitor account usage through things like addresses, account activity, and device IDs, making sure your subscription isn’t being used by someone it shouldn’t be. And it’s not just the U.S. feeling the effects—Disney+ subscribers in Canada, Costa Rica, Europe, and even the Asia-Pacific region are also part of this new wave of account policing……..[read more]
