This program allowed shoppers to order clothing, shoes, and accessories, try them at home, and only pay for what they kept—making returns hassle-free. While some users lament the loss of its convenience, others aren’t as surprised, citing personal challenges with the service or noticing the limited selection in recent months.
Amazon explained its decision by pointing to the program’s limited reach and a shift toward AI-powered solutions for sizing. Features like virtual try-ons, personalized size recommendations, and improved size charts are gaining traction among shoppers. The company believes these tools provide a more seamless shopping experience, eliminating the need for try-before-you-buy services.
Initially tested as “Prime Wardrobe” in 2017, the service officially launched the following year and competed with other subscription-based and personal styling services like Stitch Fix and Rent the Runway. However, despite its unique appeal, it didn’t scale to include a broad range of items, which may have hindered its success.
