Delta Airlines is revamping its boarding process, introducing a number-based system starting May 1. This change aims to enhance clarity for passengers, aligning with Delta’s commitment to improving customer experience. Despite the update, the actual boarding order remains unchanged.
Under the new system, boarding zones will be renamed and reorganized. Delta One and first-class passengers will be assigned to Zone 1, while Diamond Medallion members and Delta Premium Select Cabin passengers will board in Zone 2. Customers with special needs, like those traveling with car seats and strollers, will enjoy early access. Subsequent zones will accommodate Delta Comfort+ passengers, Sky Priority customers, and Main Cabin passengers split into three groups. Basic economy passengers will be assigned to Zone 8.
Delta assures that pre-boarding privileges will persist for individuals requiring additional time or assistance, along with active-duty military and Delta 360 members. Additionally, boarding lanes at airports will be updated to reflect the new zone numbers, ensuring a seamless transition for passengers.
